My father, Alex E. MacRae, believed that creative, responsible leadership that worked for the welfare of the community was of great importance. He practiced what he preached; he was on the Board at ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ for some 40 years and received an LLD from ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ and had leadership roles in the Y.M.C.A., The Professional Engineering Society, etc.
Alex E. MacRae founded a patent firm in Ottawa. He was dismayed by the increasing litigation and ugly disputes in society, and was very successful in bringing people together to solve disputes in a mutually acceptable way, and hence minimizing costly court cases.
All five of his children graduated from ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ as well as some grandchildren and great grandchildren.
