Come and learn about the ‘Game of Thrones’ period in Greek history, when the Successors of Alexander and their descendants struggled to divide the world he had conquered amongst themselves and to establish their own dynasties. While posing questions concerning sources and gaps in our evidence, we will highlight the major events in Hellenistic history, as well as social, religious, and political developments. Together, we will also explore how the Greeks interacted with other cultures of the ancient world and periodically enquire about the relevance of the study of Hellenistic history to contemporary debates.
