Celebrating Black History Month, Muslim Societies-Global Perspectives invites you to a free and public lecture by Dr. Michael Ferguson, Concordia University, "The Making and Unmaking of the African Community of Ottoman Izmir, 1870-1922" about the little known cultural and social history of enslaved and emancipated Africans and their descendants in Late Ottoman history.
