The (UDSI) will be in effect from Friday, October 17, at 9 p.m. until Sunday, November 2, at 6 a.m. The purpose of the UDSI is to educate community members and to mitigate the risks of large unsanctioned gatherings, including strains on emergency services, dangerous behaviours and traffic disruptions.
The following offenses are covered by the initiative:
- Nuisance Party Bylaw
- Liquor License Act
- Noise Bylaw
During this time, community partners, including City Enforcement Staff and Kingston Police, will have an increased presence in the University District. Bylaw officers can also issue (AMPs) for Nuisance Party and Noise Bylaw infractions.
As part of the UDSI, Gord Edgar Downie Pier and Breakwater Beach will be closed to the public nightly, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on October 17 to October 19, October 24 to October 26 and October 31 to November 2.
