Policy Statement on Student Health and Wellbeing

In support of the University's Policy Statement on Health and Safety, ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ is committed to a living and learning environment that promotes student health and wellbeing.

Faculty, staff, students and governing bodies share responsibility for fostering an inclusive, respectful, equitable, supportive, and accessible ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ community. This collective commitment shapes a campus environment where health and wellbeing are supported through a settings-based and whole system approach.

The University recognizes the importance of cultivating a campus culture where health and wellbeing are foundational to learning, personal growth and development. Queen’s is committed to programs, services, policies and practices that reflect the diverse health and wellness needs of the student population.

In alignment with the Okanagan Charter’s calls to embed health into all aspects of campus culture and to lead health promotion action and collaboration, Queen’s prioritizes:

  • Fostering a culture of care, inclusion, and respect across the university community.
  • Strengthening social connections and belonging to support student wellbeing.
  • Promoting personal health and wellness across multiple dimensions, including physical, mental, emotional, social, spiritual, academic, and environmental wellbeing.
  • Creating inclusive and accessible campus spaces that enhance student wellbeing and engagement.

Queen’s University acknowledges the interconnection between a healthy campus environment and a transformative learning experience, and educational excellence.

This policy statement was approved by the Board of Trustees at its regular meeting held on September 26, 2025.
