The University Club Event and Conference Venue supports the Housing and Ancillary Services commitment to building and operating a healthy and sustainable community. We are committed through collaboration and innovation to sustainable best practices, guided by the Housing and Ancillary Services Framework and the Queen’s Climate Action Plan that aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals.
Fair Trade
Queen’s University is the 41st Fair Trade Campus in Canada! Hospitality Services has reached this goal through the collaboration with the Alma Mater Society and The Tea Room by offering Fair Trade products. We are promising a mutually beneficial relationship between both the consumer and producer. By partnering with Fair Trade Canada, we are helping to provide opportunities and market relationships to maintain the livelihood of farmers and provide their families with a more stable income. By purchasing Fair Trade, we ensure that ingredients were produced by small-scale farmer organizations or plantations that will meet the social, economic, and environmental standards.

Bottled Water Free
Queen’s University has 190 drinking fountains and more than 35 bottle-fill stations located across campus. The installation of the bottle-fill stations supports the campus-wide ban on bottled water sales and distribution that took effect on September 1, 2012. This initiative has diverted an average of 98,000 plastic bottles annually.
