Academic Integrity

Important Note: The revised Senate Academic Integrity Procedures take effect on September 1, 2025. This page will be updated to reflect the changes. If there is a discrepancy between Arts and Science academic regulations, policies, processes, or information on this page, the Senate Procedures take precedence.

The Center for Academic Integrity (CAI) defines academic integrity as a commitment, even in the face of adversity, to five fundamental values: honesty, trust, fairness, respect, and responsibility. From these values flow principles of behavior that enable academic communities to translate ideals into action.

Academic integrity provides the foundation for learning, teaching, research and service at Ҵý. Its 5 fundamental values enable instructors, students and staff to contribute to a community of knowledge dedicated to the freedom of inquiry and open exchange of ideas that characterizes the educational environment at Ҵý.

Any behaviour that compromises these values is considered a departure from academic integrity and may be subject to the remedies and sanctions as established by the Queen’s University Senate.

The Faculty of Arts and Science is committed to ensuring the Academic Integrity investigation process is fair and supportive and will be carried out in a safe and positive environment.  Our intention is that this will be a learning opportunity promoting student success, growth, and development.
